Movers and Shakers: Rookie-Palooza and the Return of Yelich

It’s officially rookie call-up season across MLB, and severals rookies are among the biggest Movers and Shakers in Bart and my latest rest-of-season fantasy rankings.

We know the sky is the limit with some of these young guys, but we’ll help you figure out realistic expectations for players like Alek Thomas, Royce Lewis, and George Kirby for the rest of their rookie seasons. Meanwhile, is it time to lower expectations for slow-starting rookies like Spencer Torkelson and Bobby Witt Jr?

Don’t worry, we’re not forgetting about the veterans, either. Bart and I explore whether Christian Yelich and Anthony Rizzo are officially back, and how much you should believe in hot starts from the likes of Jazz Chisholm, Taylor Ward, Brandon Marsh, Daulton Varsho, and Josh Naylor. We then turn our attention to struggling players, helping you decipher who to buy low and who to avoid among Brandon Woodruff, Shane Bieber, Jose Berrios, Jose Abreu, Justin Turner, Whit Merrifield, and more.
